We forget that farming was once the main source of income. Bad harvests or good harvests impacted on most people's lives and their existence.
We also forget that one the most favoured forms of investing money was, for those who had money to invest, buying, owing and selling land.
Two Lenham farmers, Andrew Barr from East Lenham Farm and Robert Boyd-Howell from Maitlands Farm in West Street and Henny Shotter who has a keen interest in local history worked on this presentation about 'Farming n Lenham: A Look Back'.
The Court Rolls of East Lenham Manor or the Manor of Shelve will be a rich source to learn about medieval farming practices in Lenham. This however is a task for others to explore in the future.
